Hypothyroidism and TTC?

Question

What medication are you taking for hypothyroidism? Have you been successful with getting pregnant? I never knew it would cause complications until earlier this year and now have been worried. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Had 3 full-term babies with hypothyroidism here. Take levothyroxin. No issues conceiving. It is my understanding that unless your tsh levels are significantly high, it shouldn’t affect ttc. However, my obgyn carefully monitored my 1st trimesters & had me let him know as soon as I was pregnant as it can affect & cause miscarriage. He gave me a chart that showed me where he wanted my levels by which trimester. So in summary, unless you have high levels, like a tsh of 12, in which you can barely function anyway & would know something is up, you shouldn’t worry too much. But as soon as you get those 2 beautiful pink lines, call & let them know as they’ll probably up your dose initially. Good luck ladies & hope this helps!❤️

I take a synthroid and metformin. I get monthly blood tests but got pregnant the first month on both and my daughter is now 6 months. I’m 31

I have hypothyroidism and take synthroid. My doctor said as long as my dose is correct and we are treating it properly it shouldn't affect my ability to get pregnant. Once you are pregnant though your dose needs will change rapidly so it will need to be monitored closely. I'm almost 6 months into TTC.

Same i take Levo and I’m ttc month two for us...I’m 36

I take levothyroxine and I couldn't figure out why i was ovulating so i had my dr do blood work to check my thyroid levels and they were way to high so we had to lower my dosage. After taking it for two weeks I had my very first positive OPK and AF is due on the 14th. I would have your dr check your thyroid levels and then discuss what medication and strength you may need
