Over feeding newborn?

My baby is 1 week old and he seems to be a lot more than my dr recommend. They said every 2-3 hours he should be eating 2 ounces, no more. Most times now he’s eating 4 ounces a time with no problems. Barely ever spits up. Is there such a thing as feeding him too much?

I should say he was almost 11 pounds when born so he’s a big boy!

We tried just the two ounces and he doesn’t like that, cries and constantly trying to eat his fingers, sticking tongue out....
