Can I check if my hymen is intact?

Is there any known way for one to check by themselves? I’ve been a victim of assault, but in my culture, they still think a hymen that isn’t intact automatically means the girl isn’t a virgin and she’s shamed upon. Basically, I kinda have to bleed once I’m married, so is there any way to check if my hymen is still there?

That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. When I lost my virginity I didn’t bleed 🤷🏻‍♀️ not everybody bleeds when they lose it and for people to think so is not only silly but it’s unfounded. That being said I don’t believe you can tell

Honestly a hymen can even be lost while doing exercise, riding a horse a bike etc. I was raped at a young age and did not bleed when I was intimate with my husband for the first time. I waited 6 years after i was raped to be intimate and that was with my husband

Your hymen has a hole in it and it can stretch. I understand that’s the common belief in your culture, but I assure you, your hymen is mostly irrelevant. Also, your hymen can tear from the simplest of things. Im not sure if you can check honestly but even without the assault (which I’m sorry to hear you experienced) there’s a good chance you won’t bleed after having sex.

Unfortunately, you cannot check because your hymen isn’t supposed to break or tear. Women who bled during sexual relations had an unfortunately bad experience. It’s a stretchy membrane that circles the opening of your vagina. It’s supposed to stretch open wth sexual relations, not tear.
Any “test” to “check” the hymen has been throughly debunked as unreliable for determining if a woman has had sexual relations.
Doesn’t stop some cultures or ignorant people from believing a woman should bleed, the hymen has no opening, or that you can “prove” virginity- but they are all 100% wrong. I am sorry for your experiences and that you must now deal with this on top of everything.

The other ladies are right!! I didn’t bleed when I lost my virginity either. Hymens can stretch or tear from so many other things besides sex. And, some girls aren’t even born with a hymen. So, it being intact or not has absolutely no barring on a girl’s virginity & it’s incredibly sad that some people & cultures really still believe it does.

Everyone is right.  Your hymen can stretch and people don’t necessarily bleed when they lose their virginity. And the hymen can break from a number of other things too.
