Is 45 minutes too far for a hospital?

I'm looking into switching healthcare systems and doctors because I'm not very happy with mine right now. And the best one around me is 45 minutes away. And the doctors office is 30. I'm also a FTM. Just curious about others experiences with a hospital that far.

I drove and hour and ten minutes for my Dr. she is the best so if you think you're getting the best care, that's all that matters.

Mine is about 35-45 minutes depending on traffic. It gets to be a lot when you go weekly at the end, but since I’m already on leave it’s fine since it literally gives me something to do!

My first was five minutes from our house and it was a terrible hospital with awful nurses and I had a really bad experience. This time I am going 45 min away for the hospital I wanted the first time but was talked out of by my OB (as they stopped having privileges there and I would have to switch OB’s if I wanted that hospital.) I really should have just switched OB’s and done the other hospital!

I think it’s fine as long as you don’t wait too long to leave home (when in labor)

Mine is 45 minutes away, I’m more nervous since it’s baby #2 and may come quicker.  I don’t think it’s too far as long as you have a plan in place for when you do go into labor. For example how long do you plan on laboring at home before going to the hospital. My first I labored at home for an entire night starting at about 6 pm until contractions were completely very painful. I left for hospital at 6 a.m But also made sure to count and time them.  I got to the hospital at 5cm So luckily didn’t wait to long before baby was born. If you can I’d suggest having your mid wife or obgyns number so that you can keep in contact through out labor process and they can give you an idea of when to head to the hospital.

I’m about the same distance. I’ve spoken with my doctor at length about it and we have a plan. This is my second too so I’m even more nervous about giving birth on the side of the freeway! We’ll see how things go in the next couple weeks!

Only hospital that delivers babies is 3 hours from me. Talk about stressful 😨

45 minutes isn’t too bad 😊 Both my doctor and hospital are an hour and a half away, and I live on an island with literally one road to get there 😅
