Tips for C-Section recovery and anxiety

Heidi

My first was delivered vaginally, and my doctor is leaning towards C-section for this one.

First I have a tremendous amount of anxiety, what can I expect for the procedure? I don't want to watch a video, I guess I just don't know what to expect, but I don't want to see it. I know that people say they can feel the pressure and tugging, and I know for myself I need to disconnect that feeling from what I know they are doing. My hospital is huge on skin to skin and baby will go straight on my chest and be there for at least an hour, so I'm hoping that will help distract me. My last hospital made it clear I would be separated from husband and baby for a while, so I'm glad to be at as place with a different policy.

I went to the prenatal class, but they glossed over the C-section and focused on vaginal

Next, advice on recovery. I'm going to get Grannie panties, and I have a post partum girdle. Will I still bleed? Do I need padsicles? Any advice appreciated.
