I work in healthcare... Is it safe to get the flu shot when pregnant?

It’s honestly something you have to do your own research on many people will say it’s bad, and many will say it’s great! I personally don’t choose to get them, I don’t believe they really actually help with anything so I choose not to. But I know working in that field sometimes you don’t get an option!!

I work in healthcare as well the flu shot is safe just depending on which type you receive. There are some that have higher mercury content than others.

Yes, it can be very dangerous to you and baby if you get the flu. Your baby can even get birth defects if you get sick. People died last year from it, and now you have a weakened immune system. 
I got mine yesterday. It is highly recommended. You just can’t get the nasal one while pregnant because it uses a live weakened virus (so you may suffer from a weak flu as a side effect), where the shot is completely safe and contains the dead virus. 
Also, bonus is baby is protected after birth, which is great considering they are too little to get the shot right away.

I’ve gotten it both pregnancies. Actually I’ve gotten it the last 4 years pregnant or not since my office offers it at our location.

personally I've never had the shot and I've never gotten the flu. So I will not be doing it while pregnant either. But with you working in the healthcare field, you may not have a choice.

It is.. I got it because I had the flu earlier this year when I wasn’t pregnant and it felt like my body was rotting. It felt like my limbs were coming apart at the joints. I don’t ever want to do that again!!

As someone who got the flu last time she was pregnant I highly recommend the shot. It isn’t always100% because there is some prediction in which 3-4 strains they think will be the strongest that year, but the flu can be dangerous when you’re pregnant so I suggest trying at least to prevent it.

I had mine last week.  If it helps the odds of not getting the flu at all while pregnant I think it’s worth it.  The flu can be threatening to the pregnancy.
