What does marriage mean to you?

To me, marriage is everything. 
We both saved ourselves for marriage and it has been a wonderful thing to share together and grow and learn together.  Marriage is about putting the other before yourself. It’s about loving your spouse for life, no matter what. So far we have two wonderful little boys and would love more kids. But those boys were made with love, passion and commitment. 
Marriage can be messy. You hurt each other’s feeling at times but it’s how you resolve those hurts that count. 
It’s about having someone beside you through it all. Someone who will be there when you’ve grown old and someone to share the memories of your life with. Someone there through the hard ships and heart aches, the joys and the laughter. Someone to sleep next to and sleep with for your life. 
Marriage is forever. It’s about two becoming one.

What it is : love, teamwork, equal effort, forgiveness, communication, laughter, understanding, respect, honesty, loyalty, bending & blending, giving.
It is speaking in kindness, acts of kindness, & selflessness. 
It's stating clear realistic expectations of one another & striving for that. Being open to LISTEN when conflict arrives. 
It's thinking of the other persons needs before your own. & in turn they should be thinking of your needs before theirs. Everyone's needs are met that way. 
During the dating period communication is key, talking about the future & the roles you'll both play etc. Comparability!!!!

To me it's a legally binding contract between two individuals. Because I view it from a legal standpoint, not a religious one. My fiance and I have been engaged for years now and I can tell you our relationship won't change once we're legally married. We're already that level of committed and in love without the contract. But that contract brings about a lot of legal perks. Such as should he hurt himself and wind up in ICU and only immediate family is allowed back, as his girlfriend/fiancee, I don't count. As his wife, I get to see him. This is a perk I'd like to have. Especially with him being as much of a nutball as he is.

I think of marriage not really so much as that “next step” like a lot of people do, but really just the joining of two families. I feel like I don’t want to be married until I already feel married if that makes since. I want to be in a secure and stable place in not just my relationship, but in life and in my career first because I want to have kids soon after marriage and I also want a big wedding. Me and my boyfriend feel the same way, which is extremely important! I also don’t want to be proposed to just out of nowhere and honestly thinks it’s dumb to do that. I think there should be a plan at every “step” in a relationship, not just planning a wedding. Couples should communicate about certain ways they’ve imagined they’d be proposed to and how they would absolutely hate to be proposed to and why and like what kind of ring they would want and what size they are and how many kids they want and if their lifestyles and careers are gong to work well together. If you truly love each other it’ll all work out, but communication is a huge part of hat and confidence. I don’t think getting married just because you had a baby or are pregnant or are in the military are good reasons. If you truly, deeply love each other those could be good reasons, but I don’t believe those reasons alone are good enough reasons to get married. I feel like young people don’t realize what a huge commitment marriage is and like that you should be mature and sure of yourselves before making a decision like that.
