So doctor called last night said

Motile count 3.5 10*6/ml

Total motile count was 10.5

3.5 million were moving good but the rest were moving abnormal

% overall motility 41.2 % low

Nonmotile 58.8% high

We are 5 months post surgery... kind of nervous and upset 😢.. doctor did say some men are told one day they have a low count and next day wife wakes up pregnant , he also said he is referring dh to fertility specialist and they would discuss options. Just wondering what some counts you lady’s have received and what y’all did next? I know the other options can be very costly

We had a fantastic count three months post VR, but very poor motility. ( I want to say it was something like 165 million total count with 8-9% motility?)Two months later our count was zero. I don’t want to scare you, but I wish someone had told us this sooner - if there is ever a chance ivf is an option for you, go freeze a semen sample at your fertility clinic. By the time our clinic contacted us, it was too late. The storage fees where we are is $300/year. We are now doing ivf using a sperm sample taken during his reversal- it means our sperm is more immature and our odds of ivf being successful are lower. On the flip side- sperm counts fluctuate, and studies have shown they can take 1-2years to get to healthy levels post VR. There’s also debate on if the scale used to evaluate semen should be different for post VR patients, as lower counts have resulted in pregnancy. I hope your follow up appointment results in some positive news for you.

@Dex Thank you for sharing your experience. If my husband's VR turns out to be successful, then we'll definitely look into freezing some sperm, ASAP, especially since I'm right around the corner from turning 35. I'm praying for you and your journey with ivf.💛

Yes to both- he was taking anti inflammatories we were religious with sex. At five months, he had a bad analysis, but sperm still present- was given steroids and antibiotics to see if maybe a local infection or swelling was to blame. But that didn’t work either, so by month six he had zero count. (And a second one on the day of egg retrieval for ivf confirmed another zero count)

We’ve only had one analysis and dh’s numbers were very low, about 200,000. Dr seemed pleased with results. Dr said as long as the numbers increase and improve within the next year. So keep your head up. We’re staying optimistic.

I completely understand part of me feels defeated but the dr was so happy about it so how can I disagree. Hopefully we will see results. Patience is not easy when it comes to this.

Thank you. Dh doc seemed pleased too but him not being a specialist saying it, it doesn’t help comfort me if that makes sense
