IUI with or without trigger???

Question

We are doing our first IUI cycle this month and our RE said a trigger would be considered. But she made it seem like they probably would NOT do a trigger. Ladies I need your help!!! 😭 Did you do a trigger shot with IUI? Or just use OPKs and have the IUI the next day??

Update! I just had my mid cycle ultra sound and they gave me the option of trigger or opk tracking. Since my LH surge usually lasts 2-3 days, I felt more comfortable with the trigger! Thank you so much to everyone that shared their experience!! Wishing you ladies baby dust!!!

I think the trigger shot just makes it easier to time the iui. My first iui I didn’t take any medication, but still had the trigger shot. I would want it.

As long as they are monitoring you every day or two you shouldnt have to take opks. The trigger makes you ovulate in 24hrs

Same for me. Trigger shot helped a lot... at least with getting the timing right. Less stressful trying to poas everyday and trying to read the lines lol go for it!

My dr did not do a trigger since I ovulate. So I do letrozole cycle day 5-9 and then day 10 I start testing for an LH surge. Once I get it I call my dr and they see me the next day. I’ve only done one IUI, last cycle, but it wasn’t successful. Going back this cycle for IUI #2.  Before they do the IUI they do an ultrasound to ensure my follicles are ready.

My doctor said I didn’t need the trigger shot bc I ovulate on my own and my follicles we’re mature before the IUI... I was very nervous as well and she called me to reassure me that the trigger shot helps people who have trouble ovulating on their own or to help the timing but since your being monitored with blood and ultra sound it sounds like your fine... I’m still TWW so I’m not sure if it was successful or not, however, I have had no symptoms.

I also had ultrasounds to track follicle growth for all my iui cycles and would be kinda upset if I went to a RE who just told me to use OPKs and call them when I got a surge. Iui is expensive and they should be doing everything possible to make sure the timing is right.
