Is it wrong for white kids to dress as blank panther for Halloween?

I saw an article on the news today about how it’s offensive for white kids to be dressing up in black panther costumes for Halloween. I personally think that kids should be kids and they don’t have a problem with race unless they are taught too, but I thought I would post because I’m also white myself so I feel like my opinion is a little bit invalid

Black Panther isn’t a real person, he’s from a comic book. As long as they’re not doing that black face bullshit, it’s no different then any other super hero.

(Sorry this is not going to be concise.)
TL;DR: No, Just let the children play!
As a white person I’m not assuming I have the final opinion on this, but here’s my rationale... I think it’s totally OK for a little white kid, who is now growing up in a new world of comics where one of most prominent and coolest heroes in their creative world is a black man and an entire culture of people of color ! I‘m an 80s kid, I grew up with (Uncanny,etc) XMen, which was by far the most racially inclusive animated series on tv, and it was still very unequal by ratio. Storm was the foremost female leader of that series for almost a decade and (similar to with these kids today and BlackPanther) what defines leadership strengths and general badassery. 
I think too there’s an aspect of a damaging sort of racial association reinforcement (that has nothing to do with racial identity/heritage) that can be avoided if we stop teaching kids “no you can’t be or do or like this thing because you’re not x.” I have heard a mother say, laughing, “haha no you can’t be Maui, you’re a little white boy haha” and he’s just “but why?” And let me reframe this with girls (as it’s what I experienced): if we continue to tell little girls that she can only have these “girl things”, and only have these things that look like her, which sets up a norm of “I only like these things that relate to me,” then we’re shaping their value structure based upon gendered and racial terms of exclusion, and it becomes “only these things are good, and those other things are bad.” You can see the problem in a white-centric, over materialized, idealized body-type world. (also on average 1/6 the options for female characters to emulate, and even fewer options of women of color.)
On the flip side, there is the nature (vs education) of children, which is amazing, and shows just how much we shape kids with “should/shouldn’t” culture norms. I witnessed something recently to illustrate the wonder of kids and Halloween and heroes and how they live in a world of different constructs than I used to— in the LEGO isle two little boys, one black one white, just re-enacting scenes together like kids do: “I have the gloves and I can fight like this” “I can kick like this and jump” “I like this the lights I like this purple light” “do your arms like this, like me” ...I mean, freaking adorable, and I don’t know what if any relationship there is between these boys (strangers/friends/brothers idk) but they just were in the toy isle, sharing what they liked or thought was cool with each other and I thought “how awesome is that.” Because between themselves these didn’t think about what “belongs” to whom, it was just two boys being boys in the best way! 
So those are my thoughts. (Also we need more Black Panther anthology movies, m’k thanks!)

Honestly, and this would surprise a lot of people who knew me, but no, I don’t think it’s racist (if there is no blackface involved). Black Panther is a superhero. Kids love superheroes.
