Where is your newborn sleeping...

*not looking for hateful or mean comments*
After some reading (and stories from friends) my husband and I have decided that we do NOT want baby sleeping in our room and plan on not purchasing a bassinet.  Baby will use his crib in his own room from day one for sleep purposes... 
Has anyone done this?  Is anyone planning on doing this?
I see so many things out there to help young babies sleep in their cribs - hammocks, doc-a-tot, cuddlers etc...
Which are worth a try?  Or does baby simply just sleep directly on the mattress?  
We also purchased a stroller that has a bassinet option - would putting that inside the crib and baby in bassinet a better idea?
We really are open to all suggestions and experiances

I’m super lazy so want the minimum travel time to fetch the baby when they wake up. With my first who fed a lot in the night, he was in bed with me for the first six months. My daughter was in bed at the beginning but is now in her own bassinet next to the bed where she’s close but not kicking me

Sleeping in the same room reduces the risks of SIDS (I’m not talking about bed sharing, I literally mean in the same room as mom).

We moved our second baby pretty quickly to her crib. The only reason we did a Moses basket and bassinet in our room was because they wake up SO often in the night during the first few weeks. You’ll find that it’s super hard to walk all the way to baby’s room multiple times throughout the night when you’re beyond exhausted. They need lots of diaper changes during the night, also. 
I’m all for crib sleeping though. I think it makes a very happy and well rested baby, as they get older.

My daughter slept in her room in her crib from day 1. We have a small house and there wouldn't have been room for a crib in our room anyway. Now she's 1 and already sleeping in her big girl bed. I think you generally should do what you would feel comfortable doing. The times where she was sick or I thought it was too cold, we'd bring her in our bed (king size, plenty room). There are pros and cons for every sleeping arrangements. You'll work it out.

I have 3 other kids and a Small house so there for I don’t want to wake them up for night feedings pretty much the only reason he or she will start out in my room.

Our baby was sleeping in her crib in her own room by 3 months. She is now a year old and a wonderful sleeper. That was just what worked for us. Every baby is different .

All 3 of my kids slept in a crib this is our first time doing baby in our room 🤞 we have to build on to make her room next year we started remodeling my oldest had moved  out for college so we moved our youngest (9) downstairs and knocked out a wall so our son (17 senior this year) could have a bigger room did that then 2 weeks later found out we were expecting again our son Is going to a community college so he's got few more years at home yet total irony I thought tho tear out a room now have to add a room again 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Our condo is medium sized so baby will be in our room in their pack n play and even if we had the extra space baby would still be in our room

I have the bassinet my brother and I used when we were born so no money spent (otherwise I would use the crib right away). I foresee myself not wanting to go too far 20 times a night so I’m having the bassinet as close to my side of the bed as possible. After a few months baby will move to her crib in her own room. That’s the plan. Who knows 🤷‍♀️

We did the docatot in our bed ( got a king before she was born) and she slept in bed with us until she was 7 months, slowly transitioned her to crib during naps.
I figured out how to nurse leaning over docatot and never got out of bed at night.  I think it saved me a lot of sleep, and my daughter was happy to be sleeping close to us, while safely in her co-sleeper.  Plan on doing this again with our son, who is due in April.
