Remember to drink lots of water. Staying hydrated has always helped me deal with my cramps.

Try to eat regularly or at least some snacks a few times a day.

Chocolate can help you feel better so go ahead and eat it 😜

Heating pads work wonders for cramps and so do hot bottles 👍🏽

Overnight pads can be a godsend at night bc leaking can happen 🙄

Try to change tampons every 2-4 hours, depending on flow.

Don’t be embarrassed about your period, having to ask for pads/tampons, or bringing one to the bathroom. (STORY TIME Y’ALL: I had to go to New York City as a high school sophomore to perform with my band. Unfortunately, I got my period while out and about halfway through the trip 🤬 I immediately went to the women’s bathroom and asked around. I eventually got a pad or tampon lol. My best friend’s boyfriend at the time was even a sweetheart and got me pads, tampons, and Excedrin 😭)

Stress, excessive exercise, and a number of things can cause your period to not come so try not to stress if that happens. Plus (I assume you’re an adolescent), it takes time for your period to normalize.

You’re gonna see weird stuff sometimes when you pee or wipe. Blood clots are normal & happen bc the blood builds up over time (if I remember correctly). Sometimes, you’ll have vaginal discharge/cervical mucus when you wipe.

Sneezing will never be fun on your period so be prepared for that 😬

To get blood out of your clothes (cuz it’s gonna happen and some may be ruined), soak it in cold water as soon as possible. You can get the blood out that way. But there’s other ways as well lol

Never let anyone period shame you. No one has the same kind of period. Some have mild cramps while others become immobilized by theirs. This is life and that’s normal.

Also, monitor your flow and try to track all your symptoms and periods. If something doesn’t seem right, talk to a trusted adult or doctor.

Lastly, good luck 👍🏽🍀 you have about 20-30 years of dealing with this hell with breaks in between thanks to pregnancy 😂 I’ve had mine since 4th grade and I’m currently 18. It feels like it’s gotten worse over the years but it’s normal now so it’s eh 🤷🏽‍♀️
