Water broke around 11:30am just after getting out of the shower. Got dressed and went straight to the hospital and checked in. I was having contractions when I first got there and they were about 5 minutes apart but they slowed down to a crawl, so nurses started me on an IV of Pitocin. Dilated to 3cm. After some walking around and the nurses ramping up the Pitocin, contractions started getting much stronger around 5pm and dilated to 5cm. Gave me some pain meds through the IV. Then around 7-7:30 pm contractions got very strong and continued, doctor arrived and checked me and I was dilated to 8cm around 9pm, so they started the epidural (almost too late). Started pushing around 10pm and pushed for about an hour and baby Oliver arrived at 10:56pm, 7 pounds 15 ounces and 21 inches long! I had a second degree tear so had to be stitched up but we are all doing well! We were all so tired but after skin to skin and a good 45 minute feeding we got some sleep 💤. He is so perfect and we are so blessed to welcome him to our family!!
