Would you date a man who will get married after 10years of being together?

My boyfriend and I have been together a year. He told me he never wanted to get married at the start of us dating, as he feels marriage isn’t necessary to start a family. I told him I understood his views, but I would still hope to get married one day. Fast forward to now, he said if we’ve been together 10 years, he would then get married.. which I guess is his way of comprising. I just wanted to know, Could you stick around that long without a ring? Or am I crazy for even considering it

For me getting married is a symbol of a deeper commitment. It’s more than just a piece of paper and a ring. I refused to be with anyone if they didn’t want to get married. I felt it was also a step in maturity level in the aspect of a relationship. Being boyfriend and girlfriend felt too 13 year old relationship. For me I wanted a husband, not a boyfriend. 
But everyone is different in their standards. What’s good for me might not be good for the next person. It’s not a matter of being right or wrong in this situation it’s about what’s best for the two of you.

I think since he told you in the beginning that he didn’t want to get married why ask if you should stay if you knew that??!! Honestly if you love him a ring and a piece of paper doesn’t matter

Yes. Me and my husband didn’t get married until a couple yrs ago on our 9yr anniversary. Honestly I would rather wait at least 5 yrs before getting married. By then you should know the person and know how to work together to solve problems that show up or know that theirs doubts and probably shouldn’t do it

My now fiancé, told me he wanted to be with someone for 5-10 years before getting engaged. People thought I was crazy, but I didn’t want to be with anyone else. True love is hard to find, if you truly love him then enjoy it. Maybe as time goes on he will change his mind. You need to ask yourself if you are truly happy and that outweighs the other stuff!

10 years is a looong time.
Bare in mind that he may change his mind when that 10 years comes around simply because he never wanted to get married anyway. Besides, it would be interesting to know how he came up with 10 years, why not 5 or 7? kinda sounds like he was trying to buy time or put you off.
All im saying is if you stay, do so knowing the risks. Neither of you are wrong.

If I loved him and saw myself in a long term relationship (i.e. marriage) then yes, I'd stay. If I was questioning whether I wanted to stay or not then no, I wouldn't stay.

I wouldn't. My husband took no time to propose and we both wanted the same thing. I've been with people who didn't want marriage and children and I refuse to compromise myself to appease someone else, nor should you if you truly want those things and they don't.
