As a registered dental hygienist, I feel the need to share this topic and research with those of who are struggling with conceiving and/or unexplained infertility. The second link is to a video that explains the relationship between oral health and overall systemic health. The video goes into detail about infertility and periodontal disease as well as periodontal disease and premature birth. Women who are pregnant and have periodontal disease are 7x more likely to give birth prematurely. I cannot stress enough how important it is to visit your dentist and hygienist prior to trying to conceive. Regular and frequent dental visits are so crucial to overall health and even more crucial in women trying to conceive and women who are pregnant!
