Mastitis ?

Ladies my boobs hurt so bad where I am in tears. They have lumps in them and just a terrible pain that won’t go away. I can barley lift my arms. I have been pumping a lot. Do you think they could just be sore or do you think I could be getting mastitis?

Is it red where the lumps are? Do you have a fever? Chills and sweats? If not, it could just be clogged ducts. Which could be the start of mastitis. If you’ve been pumping a ton, you could be creating an over supply which will make you more susceptible to mastitis. Warm showers and massaging the lumps! Hurts like hell but that’s the only way to help unclog. I had mastitis 3 times and was threatened with surgery one of those times. So you absolutely need to massage them! I’m sorry you’re going through this mama.

See your doctor. If you are nursing vary up positions. Also take Lecithin vitamins. They "lube up" the ducts. Talk to your doctor is you are concerned though

Do you pump exclusively? Are they just getting too full? Mastitis I believe will make your breasts red. When mine are super full it hurts to do anything and they get completely hard. Maybe pumping is causing and oversupply?

When was baby born?  I remember when my milk came in with my first it was incredibly painful and I got a bit of a fever.  If you are past that point and had a decent nursing/pumping rhythm going then the pain and bumps would be concerning.
