National Heathcare and Tax percentages

This is based on a previous Healthcare discussion post on whether or not there should be a national Healthcare system. I think for the US one of the biggest arguments against national healthcare is the worry about a huge tax increase. I’m curious what people actually pay in taxes in the US, Canada, and UK. Of course if you’re in another country with national healthcare feel free to comment also! I know many people probably don’t know the exact percent off the top of you’re heads (I know I don’t!) but try to be as accurate as possible. I’m sure it feels like more than it is! Also adjust for any tax refund you get or more taxes you have to pay out. I’ll do mine in the comments. Curious to find out if paying more taxes is a real reason not to support national heathcare or if it’s just a fear. I know too it has to do with allocation and I think if the US did this we’d pay more, I don’t trust them to be responsible with reallocating IMO.
