Complications after d&c?

Question

Has anyone had any scarring or internal damage from a d&c that has caused a subsequent miscarriage or fertility issues? My baby’s heartbeat stopped at 9 weeks, and now I have to decide whether or not to get a d&c. My prior mcs were natural but also ended earlier on than this. I’m leaning toward the d&c but am fearful of it impacting my ability to carry a pregnancy in the future.

I’ve had two D&Cs and although I have not carried to full term ever, I wouldn’t do it any other way. It helps me mentally.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. It’s so hard needing to make a big decision while going through a time of mourning and heartbreak. The prior mcs, my body decided for me, but now I haven’t even spotted, so I have to choose the course of action.

I had a D and C on September 27th and I really feel like it was the best decision for me when I was in that situation. I have a 3 yr old daughter who is very active so momma needed to get back to normal ASAP. I had a little bit of bleeding on a pad but mainly had bleeding when I went to the bathroom. It took about 7-10 days for me to feel completely normal again. Best of luck and I will be praying for you.

I just went through this same experience as you. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My first miscarriage I had a natural miscarriage. This time, I opted for d and c and so glad I did. I was able to start physically healing and let my body reset for our next cycle of TTC!

I had a d&c after a loss at 8 weeks & it hasn’t effected my ability to get pregnant or carry since, I have a 3 year old & a baby on the way both conceived after the d&c

I opted for the medication. I have assisted with d&c’s so I chose not to have one. Sometimes I wish I would have had one. I lost my baby almost a year ago at 8weeks.
