Does having a child ruin your life?

Most of my friends have had children and whenever I bring up that I have been getting baby fever and wanting one they all tell me that I will regret having a kid and it will ruin my life. My boyfriend and I have talked a lot about having a baby. I'd prefer to wait a few more years but he thinks he's ready for a child. Do children really ruin your life? Could I be a mother and get and still do things in life? Everyone acts like it's impossible.

When you have a baby, your life will never ever be the same again. 
So many sacrifices and responsibilities! 
A lot of worrying about everything! 
Everything about myself gets put on the back burner. 
When I want to leave my house, I cannot just leave my house. 
My relationship with my husband gets put on hold sometimes. We love each other very much and we’re best friends. We’re a team, but sometimes we don’t have as much time with each other as we would like. 
I’ve lost most of my “friends”
My car is always a mess, and my house is always a mess. 
Did my children ruin my life? No mam! My children are truly a gift from God. They have absolutely made me a better person. I’ve grown up so much because of them. I cannot picture my life without my children, and I would give my life for them in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t trade being a mom for anything in this world.

Wow they sound pleasant lmao. I love being a mom. I went from partying every night to working 2 jobs and graduating school for my son to have the best life. If anything he blessed my life in ways i never even knew were possible 💯💯💯💯💯

First of all, children do NOT “ruin your life”. Obviously having and raising a child takes responsibility and work, but that certainly does not mean life is less enjoyable. In fact, I find it just the opposite. You get to see the world through new eyes, you get to experience a kind of love only a child can bring, you have new pride in everything they do and learn. It’s a magical experience. Anyone who says children “ruin your life” should not have them. And  you most certainly CAN still do anything you want to with a child in tow, you just have to plan accordingly.

Wow. They sound awful. I have 3 boys. They are a handful! Some days I just want to run away (and then come back of course).  
I stay home, so I need breaks or I go crazy. 
They irritate me and make me mad. They break and lose stuff. They have fits over the dumbest stuff 🙄. They punch each other, they don’t listen, and talk back (and they are only 5,3,and 1). And they are expensive. 
But they cuddle, pick me flowers (and pass them out to women in stores), they tell me how much they love me, they make me things. They are fun, loving, funny, and caring. They are smart and I love seeing their little imaginations in different ways. 
I can’t imagine my life without them. I don’t know how any parent can say their child ruined their life. That’s terrible. Maybe they shouldn’t be parents. It’s stressful and there are some days worse than others, but having children is amazing.

If having a child will ruin your life than you are not ready to have children. In no way did having children ruin my life, I see it as moving into a different/new stage in my life. I love it!! With anything if you can’t love them, you shouldn’t have them 😉

My baby boy was the single most Amazing thing to happen to me. I was in a bad place when I got that bfp and it literally is what kept me from attempting suicide (it was that bad) luckily my gut said to test instead. Best thing to Ever happen. And then when he was a year I met the man of my dreams and we have a daughter together and are planning more kids. I love my family So Much.

Having children does not ruin your life. It’s really sad your friends feel that way. Babies are not a burden. Yes life changes after having kids. Yes you have more responsibility. But it’s truly the biggest reward in life to have this tiny vein you are responsible for that loves you more than anything in this world. My little girl is my biggest joy in life. She’s my little sidekick. We go everywhere and do everything together.

Nope but doing things in life will depend and it is alot more work to do through out the day/night. I love my kids and i do miss free time but they did not ruin my life. It is hard for my SO and i to do things without them because we dont have a babysitter/family to look after them. But if you have family to help with babysitting then it will be easier for you and your SO to go out and do things. So it just depends if you have support.

This makes me so sad! Does a baby change your life? Yes, of course. You now have to put the needs of this little angel before yourself and that changes your priorities. But I can say without a doubt it does not have to ruin your life, or even change it that drastically! We still do all of the things we loved to do before we had her, and now it’s even more fun because we get to see her enjoy and learn all of these new experiences with us! We still hike, go for coffees, go out for a good brunch or dinner, take vacations, long road trips, hang out with friends, do game nights, etc. You just have to adjust your expectations and know that not every day will be a great day, but lots of them will be! Our babies are the sweetest gifts and they just make life fuller, definitely not worse.
