Fear of Losing job?!

I had to start my maternity leave today due to my pelvic pain/early labor. I'm 37+2.  It hurts to do anything.  I feel like I need a walker! Anyway, I am nervous about it because I didn't go to work yesterday or today because I was in the hospital.  I'm in early labor but decided to labor at home instead of hospital. I don't qualify for FMLA or any sort of leave until 12 months of being with this company.  I fear I may lose my job because of the leave having to start today and hardly any notice being given.    I hate that we have to fear job loss to have a family.  It plain sucks!

Google your states law about maternity leave. I’m in CT and by law can take 12 weeks without reprimand of losing my job. I’m not sure how it works if you start before the baby is born but through my HR I was told I could take time off before- with a doctors note but that it would count as part of the 12 weeks

Talk to your supervisor. Keep them advised of your plans and how you wish to return after taking some time off. Is it possible to do remote work?

I was told in Nebraska I have to be working for 12 months or have a certain amount of hours completed then can do fmla 
But you may have short term disability  ? And I guess that's different I would talk to HR if you get fired then apply for unemployment and use that until you cant any more then apply for another job? I'm done worrying about jobs especially  when they will replace  you so fast!

I would definitly call and talk to your supervisor, or hr, maybe both. They should be able to reassure you what their plans are, hopefully they will be understanding! Most employers are aware that complications happen in pregnancies and will give a little bit of leeway so long as you are a good employee.

I’m kinda in the same boat, 38+1 and afraid to stop working even though I am miserable.  I feel like I can’t stop unless I’m pushing out this baby 😭
