Should kids have paying jobs?

Do you feel a kid should be able to work and if so who does the money go to the parents or the kid(s)

Why would it ever go to the parents? The point of a kid getting a job is to teach responsibility and money management, right?

I think what age the “kid” is depends. Kid kids no, unless you do the whole allowance thing. But someone old enough to have a “real job” sure they could work. But in neither of those circumstances should the parents get the money, that makes no sense. They worked for the money, so it’s theirs.

If they want to, and their grades aren’t slipping or having by other issues. When they’re younger, they should keep whatever they make, although having them split it into save, spend, etc. Once they get older, depending on how much they’re making, maybe put them in charge of their own cell phone bill if they want that nice phone, or help pay for their own clothes. All depends on the specific situation and their particular wants that are above what the family would normally pay for.

If a kid of working age has a job that kid should have the money the parents are there to be parents and raise the kids until legal age that kid should use the money to do things and by the things they want it teaches responsibility.

The only time I would say the money goes to the parents is for something like a phone bill. Otherwise it's the kid's money.

🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️ Absolutely not! Personally, I do not feel as if children should be made to be work unless it is absolutely necessary. By necessary, I mean that family must be in a financial crisis and even then, I disagree a little. Children should not be forced to work. I was 22 years old and done with undergrad when I got my first job. 👩🏾‍🎓👩🏾‍🏫 I did not work during high school or college and that is because my parents wanted me to focus on my grades and enjoy being a kid and college student. They provided me with everything I needed and wanted so that I can focus on school. They felt as if working would have been a distraction, especially while I was off in college. Between classes, studying, cheerleading and being involved with different organizations and clubs on campus, I never would have been able to fit work into my schedule. I would work at my dad's doctor's office during the summer sometimes, but that was only when the receptionist took her annual vacation and if my mom was not available. Of course he paid me and I spent that money as I pleased. My husband's parents were the same way, they did not work during undergrad either. His parents wanted him to focus on his studies and maintain good grades as well as work hard on the field. And let's face it, working as a student athlete is pretty much impossible between classes, studying, practice, etc. We plan to do the same for our daughter. She will not work until she is done with undergrad (praying and assuming she goes). It just seems like it would be too hard working while focusing on school. Hopefully we remain financially stable enough so that she can go through college without having to work. I'm self-employed so if our daughter ever feels like she wants extra money, she can always help mommy even if she is miles away in college. I realized just how hard it is to work while in school when I was working while in grad school. I still achieved great grades in grad school, but it was hard. I can only imagine how hard that must be on a teenager having to focus on their grades, classes, work, etc. It has to be hard on them. However, if they have to work, I do NOT believe they should be made to hand over their checks. If THEY are the ones working for the money then they should not be made to hand it over to anyone. Of course it may be exceptions to this, such as the family being in a financial crisis, but even then the child should still be able to keep most of their money. Like I said, I'm totally against it unless it is absolutely necessary. Even if they do work, they should not have to hand all of their money over to anyone. Teach them how to budget, save, etc. There are better ways to teach responsibility and work ethic than forcing a child to work and there is definitely a better way than demanding all of their money. 👌🏾

I am asking about young kids..... like child entertainers.  
If y’all say no then does it annoy you when a kid is in a movie or tv show?
I’m wondering who gets that money for kids say 6 who is a child actress.... 
Just want to hear thoughts. It was something my husband and I talked about how it ruins a child’s life to be an entertainment so early.
