How do you pick a counselor?

Question

I had posted before about my counselor and I not being a match so I have been looking for another one. I called another place and gave all of my information. I was told that "Amy" would call me to set up a time. Well...that was last Monday and no one ever called. I'm starting to get frustrated! How do you pick someone? Google local counselors and just pick another? Help!

As a therapist when I first meet clients I say its a lot like dating. There has to be chemistry. And that takes a while to find. 
Finding my own therapist took going through 6 others.

I have been through numerous counselors. It is hard finding a compatible counselor. However, I finally found one I like after the tenth counselor did not work out. I found her through my mom's church, and we really clicked from the beginning. If you are religious, you can asks a church if they have a counselor there that can take you on. The only other thing I know to do is Google local counselors and hope you get a good one.

Unfortunetly it can take time. You gotta call around, try appointments with them, ect... I figured out what it was I wanted in a councillor so it made it easier when looking. I also took time to hear about other's experiences with different ones in my city. 
Due to the nature of my insecurities & mental illness, plus what I believe in I require a specific type of person to feel safe. 
I found my councillor as she was working through my doctors office doing free sessions. She's a very open minded progressive person who encourages me to try alternative treatments & share them with her, plus are sessions are easily changed around what I happen to need most at that point in time. I absolutely love seeing her now! Although my sessions are now once ever 2 months for maintenance sinse I have good control over my issues now
