Is being honest the best policy???

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years. When I got with him, I was still in contact with my ex boyfriend that was my first love. My current boyfriend doesn’t know that I’m still talking to him. We don’t talk like nasty or anything we actually have genuine conversations every now and than. 
I’ve jokingly told him that my ex and I talk and he got really mad about it asking me why but there are many girls out here that are JUST FRIENDS with our ex boyfriends and our current boyfriend just don’t get it. 
So, should I tell him? If so how should I bring it up?? 
Or just leave it alone

You need to tell him. How would you feel if he was talking to a ex girlfriend behind your back? Honesty is the best policy

If you don’t tell him and he finds out some other way then it will look worse because it will seem like you were deliberately hiding it for some reason. If it’s not a big deal and you’re just friends then telling him shouldn’t be a big deal either. Hopefully he understands 🤷🏼‍♀️

My boyfriend doesn't like me talking to any exes at all. One of my best friends husbands is my ex bf from when we were 14 and hes also been my favorite tattoo artist for years, but because he is still an ex my bf isnt comfortable with his doing any more tattoos on me. I wanted to lie at first because hes my favorite artist, but my relationship is so much more important than tattoos. So as much as it still sucks, i will never get any more work done by him, as long as im with my boyfriend. I'd rather that than to ever lose him.

I found out a lot of stuff about my boyfriend but more stuff pertaining to when we were in the talking stages. Apparently we weren’t on the same page and I found out by looking through his old phone. This was more information that I ever want to know. 
Fast forward 3 months later, we’re open and converse about everything freely. No boundaries and any topic that would want to know or even feel uncomfortable about we speak on because I learned if you sit and dwell your never gonna get past it.

First you need to ask yourself what your intentions are of still talking to your ex. Why do you feel the need to keep it a secret? Is it because you still have feelings for him? Or is it truly because you don’t think your boyfriend will understand and you don’t want to lose him? I think if you find that you still have feelings for your ex, then you simply should not be in your current relationship. If it is because you don’t think your boyfriend will understand and you don’t want to lose him, then I don’t think you’re giving him enough credit and I think you’re being slightly selfish. He may or may not understand, but he still should be given the option to be with you authentically, and not under fraudulent circumstances. Right now, you are not showing him who you really are. You’re not being authentic. You are a person who is still friends with her ex. If the person you are with can’t accept that, then they are not the one for you. You need to be prepared at this point for your boyfriend to be extremely upset about this because you have been keeping this hidden for sometime now. That’s not fair to him.

You should stop talking to your ex. If you’re having genuine “friend” conversations, it wouldn’t be necessary for you to hide it for so long. I think maybe there’s some unresolved feelings for the ex from either you or him. It isn’t fair to your current BF.

This is really messed up imo. If you were friends with your ex you should have let your SO know that long before now. At this point it looks like you were trying to hide it and that there is something fishy going on between you too. 
I would ask yourself, are occasional conversations with your ex worth possibly loosing your man? If so... then yeah, tell him and keep talking to your ex. If no... then cut off contact with the ex and then tell your man.
