Rae Carruth seeks custody of son upon release from prison

Ka

Rae Carruth was a professional football player who killed his pregnant girlfriend in 1999. She died a month after he shot her and their son was born prematurely and with cerebral palsy due to the traumatic birth.

He’s being released from prison after serving 19 years and now wants custody of his 18 year old son. His son will need to be cared for for his entire life due to his cerebral palsy. Currently his grandmother (the moms mother) has been caring for him and says she has care in place for him if something were to happen to her.

Carruth says that since he’s the father no one else should have to care for him. That he should have a chance to have his son.

Personally, I think he lost the chance to be a father when he chose to shoot his pregnant girlfriend. I think the son, Chancellor, should stay with his grandmother and be in the care of whomever she has set up for after her can’t care for him any longer.

Interested to see if anyone thinks that he served his time and he should have care of his son.
