Desperate! My 1 month old needs help!
My baby girl is 1 month old and has a severe case of reflux. I dont know what to do anymore. We've done everything in the book to try and make it better but nothing is helping. She isn't really spitting up the milk or throwing it up but acid from her stomach come up and cause her to choke and gag. She was hospitalized on Friday and was released yesterday with the result of adding rice cereal to her milk. She has been on Zantac and that doesn't seem to help at all! We're so frustrated at this point because it sucks to see her in pain, fussy, crying and having choking incidents because of this. A gastroenterologist saw her yesterday in the hospital but she wont see him again until November 8th. I've taken her to her pediatrician so many times now and have asked them to change her medicine but they refuse. I read online the Prevacid, Prilosec or Omeprazole is so much better for the reflux. They only recommended me to change her milk to Similac Alimentum which the gastroenterologist thinks they shouldn't have done that. I have elevated her bed, burp her in between feedings, keep her upright for at least 30 minutes after feeding but I see no change. My baby is suffering, she is always fussy and crying. She doesn't sleep because of this. We dont sleep because we are constantly monitoring her because she chokes/gags at any time. What should we do? Please help!!!
