I think it's an option for people that dont know what to choose or they dont have a preference but they still want to see what the % are on the poll. you have to choose one to be able to see the stats.

To give an example of when it would be used, say I ask in a poll: for those that have eaten ice cream, did you like it? The options would then be “yes” “no” or “poll” so that people who haven’t eaten ice cream could see what everyone else thinks of it without skewing the results by putting a random answer
