Simple alternative weddings

Anyone want to share their ideas? We’re looking to do something small (family only), intimate, possibly just a ceremony and champagne toast to send us off? We’re buying a house and can’t spend the money right now! We’d like to do a bigger anniversary party later. We don’t want to marry at the court house and our pastor will officiate. How do we go about this in a way that is classy and doesn’t offend?

We did ours on a dock on the lake at a nature park. We only had our siblings, parents, and our daughters. We included our daughters (we each have a daughter from previous relationships) in our ceremony and gave them necklaces. On our one year anniversary we are going to have a “reception”. I am so glad we did it that way because it was about us, our girls and our relationship, and not about the wedding.

We did a morning ceremony with a meet and greet reception with horderves. No dancing, no speeches, we had a harpist, we ate some snacks drank prosecco, did pictures and cut cake. Then off we went onto our honeymoon. It was wonderful. We just weren’t into the big party with all the traditions. We had a beautiful wedding at a venue in fall. Just what we wanted. 😊

You can always do it at a church, small venue, backyard, airbnb, party boat, even a barn wedding. There's tons of affordable ways to pull it off. The reception can be catered at your home, or maybe rent a private dining room at a local restaurant? I would look on Pinterest for all the diy shortcuts. And hey...there's always cheap flights to Vegas 👀
