52 percentile? Help?!

Hi all,

I had my growth scan yesterday at 28 weeks and asked about the weight of the baby as i havent put on much weight myself and my bump really isnt very big. I was told all measurements look good etc. In the UK, technicians tend not to concentrate much on the weight of the baby (usually just measure the head, stomach and spine) so i had to ask her a few times if she could at least give me an estimate on baby girl’s weight.

She said baby is ROUGHLY around 1.2kg/2.7lb’s -ish. Which put hers in the 52 percentile. She said nothing to worry about but my question is - how does the percentile scale work? Whats good? Whats bad? Im very confused. My sisters have all had kids and all told me they were never told the baby’s weights either so they cant really help me out. Thanks in advance ladies x
