Benzocaine as an anaesthisia for dental work?

Hello ladies 
I am 17 weeks and need to do some dental work.My dentist said she would be using benzocaine as the anaesthetic.I wanted to know if this is safe to use during pregnancy?

When I went to the dentist the dentist faxed over an authorization to the dr office  of the stuff he was going to use ... dr ended up okaying but said to use the lower strength anethsesia (no Epi) ... I suggest your dentist confirm with your dr.

My doctor advised not to take anything at all unless completely necessary. So if you have to get it done, find out if uts safe or the safe alternative. Good luck! Hope it goes well
