Natural PMDD relief

So I went to the gyno this morning because I have been feeling really intense emotional pms symptoms for the past few months about 10 days before my period. I feel anxiety, extreme depression, irritability, lack of focus and sadness that really impacts my daily life. It almost feels like I’m having dual thought patterns where one side of my brain is rational, knows it’s hormones, and i feel fine, while the other side is the total opposite and makes me feel straight up crazy. It’s like having an angel and devil on each shoulder. I’m usually a very upbeat and light hearted person, except for this very specific time during the month.
When I spoke to my doctor today she recommended Prozac and said that was a standard treatment. I’m not interested in starting antidepressants until I’ve tried all other options and was shocked when she couldn’t recommend any natural options. She did recommend taking hormonal birth control and skip the placebos along with my mirena iud to balance my hormones, but hormonal birth control made me feel very depressed in the past which is why I have an iud. She said it was safe, but two birth controls and no periods doesn’t seem healthy either.
I would love to hear any natural remedies that have worked for you that I could try first! I’ve been taking some dong quai and chaste berry vitamins for about a month, but haven’t noticed any changes yet. Thank you in advance for your wisdom, advice and support! 💜
