Black Women Do Breastfeed...

Birthing my 2nd Princess I vowed to breastfeed exclusively. I want to encourage anyone struggling with breastfeeding. There is a common misconception that African American Women do not breastfeed. My mother didn't. Her mother didn't. I was made to feel awkward for doing so when I visited home. Don't feel awkward. Don't allow anyone to discourage your efforts. Giving birth and pregnancy are sacrifices we choose. Nursing is another sacrifice we choose. It's such a beautiful choice. With bonding and nurturing your baby, you give up your sleep and free time to feeding schedules and pumping liquid gold for when you return to work.

Love on your babies. Provide for them in every way you can. You can do this.
