Under 18 and still living in their home - absolutely. Over 18 and living on my own - they expressed their opinions but it was ultimately my choice. Their views mattered to me though. Thankfully, they love my husband :)

I'm assuming this is about high school. I never got my parents' permission to date anyone when I was in high school. They just had to deal with it. And I dated some questionable boys back then. 🤷

I always asked for their opinion. I trust my parents so if they disliked someone I knew there was probably a reason. I'm also super close with them so he needed to fit into our family.

Under age of majority and still living in their house yes. 
And even when your an adult and living on yor own, always hear them out. Sometimes they see trouble before you do. They might not like the person you’re dating for a reason or maybe not.

I always cared about their opinion. But my parents are the easiest to impress. They let my older sister date a 24 year old at 17 who worked at subway (they are married now) and my younger sister date a 25 year old at 17 who worked at Bob evans. They dont really care.
