Teacher??

Question

How long it takes for you/y’all to become teachers and how’s the pay? What state?

I live in PA and most people I graduated college with and friends who went for education later left to go to another state. It’s political and competitive. I’m at a private school as our local public schools rarely hire and I make $23,000 after teaching full time for 7 years. It’s honestly not worth it. Now all the schools want elementary ed with reading specialist certifications or special ed so my degree is worth nothing here.

My mom has been a teacher for over 20 years now and she makes around 30k. I was studying education but changed my major, it would’ve taken me 4.5 years. 4 years to get my bachelors then a semester interning. We both live in Florida.

It took me 5 years including my student teaching internship. I am currently making about 30k on salary. The days are long and stressful, the kids are sometimes great. But I'm just into my first year and somedays I do consider resigning because of all the roles I have to take on throughout the day. You have to be very mentally tough and organized to be effective.

Cons, 
State and politically-driven
 very little wiggle room in curriculum for activities, or different types of teaching styles.
depending on the district a regimented schedule.
Parents can sometimes be a hassle...

It took me 1 year to get my teaching certificate from an alternative certification program in Texas. Currently, I teach English online to Chinese students and I freaking love it! They prefer you have a degree but it doesn’t have to be a teaching degree. But  I don’t have to leave my house and I get to spend all day long with my babies! Best part is I don’t have to sell anything either. I’m making decent money and maintaining a great bond with my children while doing something that I enjoy!

I’m from CA and it takes a year to get your credential after you have your bachelors. Some programs are 2 years but you also get a masters. This is my 8th year and I make close to 70k

I’m an Art teacher, I did my BFA and my MA in Education in NY and now I have 7 years full time teaching experience. I make 80k a year.
I work in CT, I still owe a little in student loans.
