I’m a Mom (poem)

I’m a Mom

I’m changed forever. I’m a Mom.

Although the world can’t know it

I’ve felt the presence of my babe

I’ve loved and I’ve adored it

Those two pink lines told me so clear

My life was soon to change

I cried so hard with so much joy

My thoughts erratic, strange

Who will you be? Will you be tall?

What color eyes and hair?

I wonder how your nose will look

I wonder and I care

Right now you’re just a tiny spot

Of perfect light and love

You’re safe inside me, cozy warm

Sent straight from heavn’ above

I promised to take care of you

I promised I’d protect

But I can’t stop the blood that comes

My heart falls, fails, is wrecked

I don’t believe it, it can’t be true

Perhaps I’m only spotting...

As days go by the pink line fades

My heart and stomach knotting

I thought you would be by my side

For many years to come

I wanted you so freaking bad

I loved you as your Mom

I’ve felt the presence of my babe

I’ve loved and I’ve adored it

I’ve changed forever. I’m a Mom.

Although the world can’t know it.
