Getting Early Appointment

Patricia

I’m a 27 year old healthy female. I have never had any major healthy issues and this is my first pregnancy. I’m 6 weeks 2 days today according to my app. When I first called my OBGYN they scheduled me for my first appointment at almost 9 weeks. I called them today and explained to the nurse that although I haven’t had any red flags thus far (no major cramping, no back pains, no bleeding, etc) that I still am nervous because I’ve read so much about women going for their first checkup and not being able to find the heartbeat. She reassured me that for what I told her it seems like I’m having a healthy pregnancy but that stress isn’t good for me or the baby and she can go ahead and schedule a “confirmation” appointment on Monday next week (will be 6 weeks 5days at that time) to get some blood and do a vaginal ultrasound which should show a heartbeat (if my original pregnancy calculation is correct). I don’t know if this helps any of you but if you’re nervous, even with no red flags, call your OBGYN because they may be able to move your appointment up.
