If we could live forever, would life lose its meaning?

Is value completely built off of something being temporary or limited in supply?

I would have less to look forward to if my eternal life was on earth.

It would lose the meaning it has now, that life is short and precious. It would turn more into a journey. It sounds like it would become monotonous and just drag on into eternity, but I think we would keep building, improving, exploring, and finding new ways to add value and meaning to our lives.

I do not think that it’ll lose purpose, though this is subjective. To me, life’s meaning is to experience and learn. If you live forever, you’ll never stop developing and learning. You’ll have every opportunity to accomplish whatever you want.  
I can see both sides though. I’m just glad that this question isn’t a reality as of now.

I don’t think life does have all that meaning anyway to be honest... I get up, I go to uni, I go to work, I eat, I go to bed. It’s just about doing what I HAVE to do, not because what I’m doing is meaningful

It would be a different meaning, deeper. Life can be very shallow and superficial now because people live by the YOLO attitude, this would be less so if you had longer on this earth.

I value relationships and life in general more because I know they’re temporary, I also feel like the fact that life is short also leads me to be more forgiving and passionate. I would hate an eternal life, and I’d hate to see the person I’d become if I was immortal

I think the suicide rate would be 100%, for those who survive illnesses and murder and whatnot, as I'm pretty sure every single person will want out at some point.
I think everything would lose meaning at some point. Forever is long.

i can’t even really wrap my head around living forever. i don’t think it’s something i’d ever want to do. i want to die just as my loved ones will. i also don’t wanna see the sun explode. 
i feel like life would certainly become tedious and meaningless, though. relationships and friendships would probably start to feel.. pointless. or maybe i’m cynical.

It depends... if I never knew what death was because I lived forever... it wouldn’t take away from the meaningfulness I think because I wouldn’t fear what comes next or feel like I have to make the most of what I have. Eternity would be all I ever knew. However, if today I was told I would live forever, I think it would change and I would be just existing. It would not matter what I do or don’t do today because time isn’t an issue anymore. Somehow I feel I wouldn’t appreciate life like I do now... if that makes any sense.

Normally I would think life would lose meaning but you would have unlimited time to try new things and could live without the fear of death. So I’m unsure. What I question more in living forever is relationships. Would you really want to be with someone forever or would you put a time frame on your relationship and say “the last 100 years were fun, thanks” and just move onto someone new to get a new experience?
