Opinions please, So asking your SO “ permission “ to go out/do something is being is being respectful? OR Notify/Letting your SO know your whereabouts is respectful?

Reason I ask because my friend SO and I got into it. He said it’s respectful asking your SO for permission to go out/do stuff then telling.

I will "run it by" and if for whatever reason he's not ok with it I'll change or cancel plans. Goes both ways

My husband doesn’t get to give me permission to do anything and I don’t give him permission to do things. But I do appreciate when he lets me know if he’s planning to do something or go out just in case I had already made plans for us or just so I know if dinner doesn’t need to be made or whatever

We run our plans by each other, not to ask for permission, but to double check that we didn’t have something else already going on and so we can make sure one of us is around at some point to take the dog out and stuff.

Nobody NEEDS permission in a healthy relationship but it's important to have open communication.

The only time we ask “permission” for plans is when 🤑🤑 is involved. 
“Hey I’d like to go out with the guys and it’ll be around x amount of money...” Just because sometimes we need to be smart about 🤑🤑 and other times we don’t.

Neither of us need permission persay unless it's something big like my husband asking if he could go on a 5 day trip to play a card tournament because it would be leaving me alone with our kid and pregnant. But if like hes just gonna stop at the store on the way home, I just get a heads up and that's all I need.

I don’t own my husband same as he doesn’t own me. If I make plans with friends or family I’ll say it to my Husband and if he isn’t happy for some reason I’ll take it on board and possibly change my plans or talk it over with him and it’s vice versa with him saying it to me.
