Baby shower close to Christmas. Opinions!?

So I live in California and all my family lives in Texas. My husband is military so going home is difficult and we can’t really pick and choose when we go home to visit family. I want to have my baby shower when we go home for Christmas because it will be the last time I fly home before baby is here. One of the only dates that would work for me is Saturday December 22nd. My mom is saying no because its to close to Christmas but I don’t see a problem with it. It’s kinda my only option so i don’t know what to do. Will people be upset if they get a baby shower invitation for the 22nd? Opinions please!

I’d be fine with it! Xmas is all about the family get togethers and people all getting together so it will be lovely either way

So I sent you a message request but this is crazy. We are in the exact same boat. We are stationed in Cali. My husbands family live in Texas (my whole family still live in Scotland so they won’t be able to come to any shower anyway) and his mum and aunts are throwing me a shower December 15th. I say go for it. They actually surprised me with it but honestly it’s the only time that works for us because we are pcs’ing to Missouri December 7th. If that’s when you think is best for you then I don’t see why it would be a problem. Just as long as you give people a big enough notice :)

I did mine with my last daughter the week before Christmas. We did not have that many people show up however, i think with the situation you may get a different turn out.

I’m doing mine the 23rd because were scheduled to PCS in January and I’ve made some really great friends here that want to be involved. If it’s the only time we can do it then we should do it. Worst comes to worst people can always purchase gifts on your registry to have delivered. May not be as many people but hey a few good friends and family is all I need to make it special. Depends on how you feel.

With my son I did it before Christmas BIG mistake. No one could make it. And to add insult to injury it snowed that day. Maybe 10 people came

They might but if it’s the only time you have then that’s it. Unless your husband can put in leave dates for a later time. I had the same thing happen to me.. my husband was in the service and time is never on your side. We had to have our wedding reception a year later on my side of the family because he left right after we got married.  And it was around Christmas too. Also My birthday is a week from Christmas so I’m used to people having other plans lol
