My dad is throwing a tantrum over hair

So recently, I cut my hair when I was out with my mom up to my shouldersish maybe a little longer. My hair used to be SUPER LONG like. Waist length? But like it was curly, like ringlets and super dead so I cut it. My dad is indian (not very religious tho) but always loved and wanted me to grow out my curly long locks. Now that I cut it he found out after I forgot to hide it and is throwing things, yelling at me, breaking things and is probably gonna yell at my mom when she comes home. Im just so stressed and upset hes mad and just need advice. Btw here are my before and after lengths. (After photo I straightened my hair in)
