So we are starting ivf next cycle and I don’t know what to expect. Am I going to be an emotional wreck? What do the drugs do to you? We are doing 21 day program. Haven’t told work yet and thinking I maybe should...

I’ve found it really helpful to be honest with work about ivf, you’re going to have monitoring appointments that may make you a little late a few days a week, you’ll have to take off day of and possibly day after retrieval, some take the week but I was good to go back to work the day after, you’ll need to take off day of transfer also. As for the medications, they may intimidate you when delivered but they usually always send more than what you need. I kept mine organized in my kitchen cabinet, taped the calendar on the inside for reference. The needles are super tiny you will barely feel them. Just take the time to read through all your papers and get familiar with injection sites and watching videos on how to administer each one. You got this!!!!

On day 6 of the 21 day programme. Injections are fine, no side effects. Just a VERY emotional time - from anxiety, hope, excitement at the possibility, scared as hell.

Not necessarily. I'm on my second IVF cycle (1st one got cancelled due to poor response). First time around I was on 450 gonal, and this time 300gonal, 150 menopur, and 0.5 lupron, so pretty high doses...and both times I've  felt just fine physically and emotionally. Only side effect I've had is one day of headaches but just one

Girl. I understand. I got in for my hysteroscopy on November 21, starts stims thanksgiving week, and do egg retrieval sometime from December 2-7.  I am not telling my work, I have some personal days saved I’m going to use. I’m terrified! Fingers crossed for both us!

If you have a good relationship to tell work then I say yes.      I wasn’t too much of a wreck.  I did cry easily but I didn’t feel crazy hormonal or anything.    I did feel super tired and bloated

I definitely told my work because it requires me to be out so often. But as far as emotions I’m fine I’m just REALLY tired all the time. I’m on day 6 of my IVF injections and the only thing I notice is a tiny bit of bloating. My blue jeans are so tight that they aren’t buttoned right now, I’m using a rubber band to keep them up 😂

Sorry for delay in getting back and thanks for all the responses. Get my first injection Tuesday morning to suppress next natural ovulation then will get started on injections once af arrives. Have not had the chance to speak with my manager as both have been off but I am meeting her next week so will let her know. Had another consultation with ivf place and they said worst week will be first one as they put you into a premenopausal state so this should be the only real time where I get mood swings and also only a possible side effect. Hoping I don’t get grey hair as a side effect!! Really excited to get started but also scared. Worried I get af before Tuesday as this would knock the whole thing back to January due to lab closures over Christmas and new year. Meds in fridge ready to go!! 🤞🍀👶🏻🍼
