Birthing class?

Question

I'm a ftm and not sure about the birthing class... It's 65$, but right now I'm not scared of giving birth, I'll do what I have to do.. I'm nervous if I go, it WILL scare me. I get they teach you to breath, but I don't want to pay 65$ to learn to breath....what are your thoughts??  I'm so torn!

We looked up videos on youtube! It’s been so helpful and friendly on our budget since it’s free. SO and I will go to bed a littler earlier some nights and watch birthing videos and child birthing classes!

Thank you for your suggestions!!!!!  It was super helpful!  If I don't do the class I will do the online classes.. I definitely don't want to go in completely unprepared, I just wasn't sure if the hospital classes were worth it seeing as my insurance does not cover it lol 🙄.

They didnt talk about breathing at all with us, it was more the process of labour step by step...the meds available with side affects, the help they can offer, did a hospital tour ; i am also in canada, this course was free to us....i also proceeded to watch some things online aswell was just as interesting

I am even attending a birthing class for multiple mums. I loved the one I went to before I gave birth to my daughter and I love this one because there is so much to understand and still learn about giving birth.
I never was afraid of giving birth and even looking forward to it doing it the second time. For me it is not about fear but about being able to actively be part of the birth rather of it being "something that happens to you".

The classes offered at our hospital are so expensive and not covered by my insurance! So we really had to be choosy about which ones we wanted to take, otherwise it would have cost us thousands if we signed up for everything my doctor recommended! So far, we’ve done a breastfeeding class which was offered at a local community center for only $25 vs the $150 the hospital was charging, and in November we go to a class about caring for a newborn once we bring her home - that’s also $150 per couple for three hours. 
That’s really all we felt we could afford/need so for the stages of labor, etc we are just reading books and watching you tube! 
The only thing we got for free was the hospital tour!

Birthing class is hit or miss on helpfulness. I say read and do your own research and watch videos. I learned more that way than I did from any birthing class.

Call your insurance and see if they cover it. Mine does. 
I think it’s worth it even if they don’t cover it. The class will put you at ease about delivering.

The classes here are free as long as you deliver at that hospital and I didn't even go I definitely would waste money on it

I’m a ftm and the birthing classes at my hospital are $120😳 So I asked a bunch of moms if they’d done it and if it was worth it. 95% of them said no. I did sign up for a breastfeeding class as I feel like i’m more worried about that. There are lots of online birthing classes and free videos if you think it will help.
