I have a mini schnauzer (Tucker) who used to be pretty active in the family. He's only a year and a half old currently and I just had a baby who is now three months. My mini likes to disappear to a quiet place recently (like the last two months or so). I'm wondering if this is because of my son. Tucker used to chill out in the living room with us and play with us and his toys often. Now, his usual spot is laying by the window by himself in our bedroom. Everything else seems perfectly fine. He still eats like normal and LOVES his walks like a normal dog and still plays like normal, but as soon as we stop playing, he goes back to his secluded spot. This doesnt happen EVERY time, but maybe 80% of the time, he goes back to our bedroom to be alone. He seems pretty happy for the most part and even interacted great with my son last week. I guess I just need reassurance that this is normal behavior for a dog around a new baby?
