Why are some black women obsessed with the idea of having a light skinned baby?

Coming from a African American myself. Me and a couple of my co workers are pregnant together all beautiful black Women I am the only one who’s not pregnant by a black man. My boyfriend is Asian. They always tell me how light skinned our baby will be and how lucky I am to have gotten pregnant by a lighter skinned gentleman. How they hope they babies are light. I have Facebook friends who just had their babies 3 months apart and the first thing they posted was “look at my light bright baby” or “look how handsome my light skinned little man is” like every picture they post has something to say about their skin color. Why do we do that? What’s wrong with having a brown or a dark brown baby? I’m pacifically asking AFICAN AMERICAN WOMAN this.
