Laparoscopy- should husband be there?

This is probably a silly question, but did your spouse wait in the hospital during surgery? Did you need help getting dressed or did the dr need to talk to them about what the found? Should he come halfway through and pick me up or be there to help from the beginning? He's willing to be there, but wondering if it's boring?! Advice please!

You're definitely going to need help. The first day is the worst and the pain from the gas the pump into you is horrible. I needed help getting dressed cause I was nauseous from the anesthesia. And you can't drive yourself home.

Normally they should give you that kind of info in your pre-op instructions. 
I had a laparotomy with a scope and my surgical center required someone to be there the whole time during surgery and to drive me home. You will be very sore and drowsy from anesthesia. Best of luck.

I was required to have someone there the whole surgery. I needed some help getting dressed afterwards and was pretty nauseous from the anesthesia too that evening.

My husband waited through the whole thing. Wasn’t that long. All I wanted when I woke up was to see him. It was a surprisingly emotional experience and I cried when I woke up. You’ll need him ❤️

Thanks everyone! I have since had my pre op appointment and will def have my husband there the whole time. I'll take a couple days off work and have the weekend to recover. Not fun, but neither is this extremely painful period right now!
