How to deal with parents wanting to be at the hospital?

I have 7 weeks till my due date and my parents last night said they will be at the hospital the entire time from when i go in till we leave the hospital. I told them our plan was for after the baby comes we will have visitors once we get in the recovery room. They both lost it and felt so upset at me. I dont know why they are so mad especially because we live with my parents since we are moving in March and couldnt get an apartment for the about 5 months we are left here. Its not like they wont be with us every single day after she is born till we move. I need advice on what to do.

Tell them that they can wait in the waiting room until the baby comes because that’s what you’re more comfortable with and then tell your hospital staff to not let anyone back until the baby comes so it won’t be an issue.

Depending on what time I give birth, I don’t accept visitors until I’ve been in recovery for a few hours/ or the next day. I like to eat, breathe lol, just enjoy my little one, take a shower and possibly slip in a small nap. That rules goes for everyone, except my spouse and kids. You just gave birth, the last thing you want to do is entertain people while you haven’t even had time to fully take in the moment. I don’t think your asking for much, especially if your going to be staying with them lol

Ahh I’m going through the same thing except I’m 31 and don’t live with my parents. I finally told my mom I don’t want anyone waiting in the waiting room for me. I’m going to be induced so it’s going to be a long process and I want a few hours of just me, my husband and our first born baby. I hate the idea of people coming in quickly and wanting to hold baby when I just got her in my arms lol. My mom was pretty upset but I stood my ground and told her she WILL be the first person we call to come. So, my plan is when I go into labour not tell anyone and when baby is here my husband can call them and tell them they can come in a few hours type thing.

Tell them you need them well-rested as the labour/birth could be really long (hopefully not the case, but go with me here) and you will be utterly exhausted by the end and need their support to watch the baby while you nap.They will be no good to you if they are sleep deprived too because they’ve been at the hospital the whole time. Tell them you won’t let anyone else see the baby until they get there, if that helps.

I told them the hospital isn’t a great place to hang out because there isn’t a super comfortable waiting area, and that having guests will make me feel pressured. I told them we will call when the baby is here and we are settled.

My hospital has visiting hours. Dads can be there 24 hrs a day but everyone else between noon and 8pm. Maybe look into what your hospital has for hours and say I'm sorry but u can only be here between these hours.

I would love to have my parents there, unfortunately it probably won’t happen since they live too far. I will have my husband and my mother in law with me.

I had to compromise with my mom. She can be at the hospital but she most likely won’t meet the baby until we come home. She wants to be at the hospital in case something goes wrong. Birth is a serious medical experience. You’d want to be there if your child was having surgery. That’s how my mom explained it anyway. She’s far more concerned with me needed anything than the baby. I’d sit down and ask them what they want and explain what you want and see where the middle ground is.  
You might want them to be able to get food or comfort items. I’m sure your partner will be busy tending to you and baby in the room.

My parents waited in the waiting room for a few hours of my labour with my first baby. I didn't mind - they were so excited and wanted to be involved. They came in to meet baby once we'd been through recovery and had a couple of hours together as a family of 3 xxx
