Motivation During Weight-loss

What are some things you do to stay motivated while losing weight?

I look forward to my morning coffees, so I’ll order one and add my protein shake to it.

I made a “treat yo self” chart for every 10lbs, I get to buy something off the list.

I buy a bunch of seasonings that I have never tried to keep the food interesting and flavorful.

I distract myself from cravings by playing video games, painting my nails or taking a bubble bath.

My motivation is buying smaller clothing. The fact that I never want to be that heavy again. My rewards are smaller sized clothing or buying iTunes songs instead of food. Celebrations always come with food. Birthdays, holidays etc. So many bad things programmed into is. We are were told as kids to finish your plate. If Someone made fun of you or you had a bad day or someone was mean to you or heck mom was mean etc, there nothing ice cream couldn’t fix. Seeking comfort in food or rewarding yourself with food was how we dealt with life. And I think was my biggest problem to deal with. Getting upset and running to the fridge and actually stopping and thinking about all the hard work that I had already put in. Never wanting to see the number on the scale go up again. You find your reason and that becomes your motivation and goal. Why do you honestly want to lose weight. To chase your kids around or to fit into a wedding dress or health reasons that you are trying to avoid or make better, or so you don’t need a seatbelt extender on a plane or to have to check the weight limit on a chair when you go tailgating etc. Whatever the reason that becomes your motivation. Or just the simple satisfaction that you feel when you look at the scale after working so hard that it’s a lower number and you think YES! You’ve got this. We are all on this journey. Yes we have good days and bad. Sometimes the scale doesn’t move or it does go up a little or you can’t stop going out to eat your birthday month and keep recycling 10 pounds up and down. Things happen. But the point is that you don’t quit and keep at it. I’m here if you need to talk.

I do all of that ...except video games! Maybe this is silly and personal, but when my husband comes home I tell him if I've done any exercise and he praises me, also sometimes my work outs are yard work so that is really rewarding, having a project done.I've cut a lot of things out of my diet that were causing inflammation (pain) and being pain-free is hugely motivating! My family likes my healthy meals. They say it helps their stomachs.Charting helps too. I list my weight at the end of the week so that I can see improvement (or not). I should do inches too, but I haven't yet.I make a facial toner with witch hazel, lemon, and whatever essential oil I am in the mood for. It is refreshing after a work out or shower. I like essential oils in the bath too.I look forward to my afternoon tea.
