Average length of relationship before proposal ??

Question

For those of you that have got engaged what’s your experience? 
Or even if you haven’t what do you think is the average length of a relationship before you get engaged? 
Do you know the data or statistics ? Could you help me look it up?

We got married on our 4 year anniversary 💕 We came up with the idea to get married in January of this year then technically got engaged on April 14th 💍 We lived together for 3 of the 4 years prior to getting married which I also highly recommend. Yesterday was actually our 6 months of being married 😍 Everyone is different, I knew after a year of dating that we’d get married. After 3 years I wondered if there was something wrong with me because he hadn’t proposed yet 😭 I’ve known people who have been together longer than 6 years with still no proposal/no marriage/no kids so I was probably just worried about ending up in the same situation 😬 I’ve even seen women on here who go past 10 years 😱 (to each their own).
According to google 2 years & 1 month (on average) seems to be ideal relationship time prior to engagement.

I think it depends on when you meet your significant other, as if you met in high school you’re likely to wait longer before marriage. 
In the UK, the average age for marriage is 30 for women and 32 for men. This is pretty accurate because when you get married you have to register it with the government so they know when everyone got married. Because there are no official statistics for when people started dating however, it’s based on research done by independent bodies. 
According to one giant study, the average time of dating before living together was 17 months, then living together before getting engaged was 22 months, then the average engagement lasts 20 months. So on average, from meeting, couples wait just under 5 years before marriage, meaning a likely time to meet your significant other would be 25 for a woman and 27 for a man. 
As these are averages, it obviously means there are couples who are quicker and some that are slower. My husband and I met when we were 26 and 24 (respectively) and were married 2 years and 8 months after meeting, but I have friends who met when they were 18 and are still not married (engaged) I think it depends on you! 
Statistics are likely to be different in the US, for a number of reasons (one of which being religious belief is higher in the US than the UK so there’s probably people marrying sooner in their relationship in the US).

I’m with my SO 5 & a half years. He proposed to me in September. We knew each other since we are babies as we went to school together. 
I don’t think you truely know someone enough to marry them until 1-2 years living together. 
But when you get the feeling this person is gonna be your husband / wife, then you know. 
My SO told me he was going to propose last Christmas but just waited to save and get the ring I wanted instead.

I date my husband for 3 1/2 years before he proposed and we were engaged for another year after that. 
I feel like it totally depends on the couple! Definitely move in together before you decide to married. Lol 
You learn a lot about a person when you live with them
