With a blood test you can find out at nine weeks

I’ll be considered AMA (advanced maternal age) when I have my second and was told the earliest I could find out the gender was 12 weeks. I have heard that some insurance companies will not cover that specific blood test because they don’t find it necessary. With my first pregnancy I had asked my doctor and she recommended that we just wait until our 18 week scan to find out. But since I will be AMA, that comes with more frequent testing and blood work I guess.

I will be over 35 when the baby is born and genetic testing is recommended. They also told me that with that testing I can find out the sex of the baby. I don’t remember how accurate it is, but I do remember that it’s supposed to be done at 10 weeks or after. 🤷‍♀️ We are going to pay for it if my insurance doesn’t cover it.

Blood test at 9 or 10 weeks.  Scans I had a place that would at 12 or 13 weeks but most scans are done around 20 weeks for baby's sex
