Ring of fire?

Mamas.. talk to me about the ring of fire while birthing naturally. This is my 2nd and I really am unsure if I want epidural or not. My first was 8lbs 11oz but I only needed 3 stitches for a skin tear. I had an epidural with him but want to hear about others “au natural” births. Thanks!

It's just a very intense burning sensation when the head crowns. At that point you are so focused on getting that baby out that it's just another element to labor. It motivated me even more to push baby out. Once the head is out it isn't as intense. Nothing to fear as when you make it to that point it will very soon be over.

I never really had what i identified as the ring of fire. For me it was just feeling him move down in my body, and it hurt. But pushing only lasted 3 or so contractions and he was out. So although hard it was brief and afterward I could walk and pee and go home right away (since I had a midwife following up). Plus no risks of complications due to the epidural or having to go through the procedure. So, that was for me more than worth not having the epidural 👍🏻

I had the ring of fire even though I had an epidural. It’s a burning sensation (hence the name), but I just know when I felt it that if I had one more really good push, he’d be out. Sucks cause it obviously hurts as you’re pushing, but seriously push throw that and baby is out!

I wanted him out so bad at that point I barely noticed!
Such a plus of not having the epidural is having the baby then getting up to pee, shower and pretty much do normal things straight away!

I don’t really remember it but my son cane out super fast! I think if I had some more controlled breathing I would have felt it more but would have also had less stitches!!

Honestly pushing and the ring of fire and my second degree tear were NOTHING compared to the contractions.

I was so focused on pushing and listening to my body I didn’t even notice to be honest.

Experience while having my son, very painful & felt how it sounds. For myself it made it hard to push. I would push and as soon as I felt the burning my natural reaction was to stop which would make him get sucked right back in. I had a horrible time pushing. Definitely made it harder to get the baby out. I finally had to suck it up and keep pushing, but would never wish that on anyone.
