So the in-laws dropped in unannounced last night (will need to change that when baby comes), and my MIL came and gave me hug and asked me how I was etc. THEN my FIL walked in and just as he hugged me he yelled out "HEY FATTY!" .........!?!?

I was so shocked and normally I wouldn't say anything but I straight away blurted out with my eyebrow raised "You can talk"

He acted offended and said "is that any way to speak to your FIL?"

My MIL said to me "good on you" and nodded to me in agreement. My partner laughed and said to his dad "wow you're game, I haven't even called her fat"

I slipped in a sorry coz normally I'm not rude like that coz he is a bit overweight.

Anyway when they left I asked my SO if it was ok that I said that or if I need to call and apologize or something. He was so supportive, he laughed and said it was hilarious and that he was proud of me for finally standing up for myself, also that he thought his dad was out of line for saying it in the first place and that he never would have called his wife fat when she was pregnant so he thought it was a good reminder for him not to call his DIL fat during her pregnancy.

Honestly I didn't intend to imply that he was fat, I just wanted him to realise that NOBODY likes to be called fat.
